چکیده

We present a novel volumetric animation generation framework to create new types of animations from raw 3D surface or point cloud sequence of captured real performances. The framework considers as input time incoherent 3D observations of a moving shape, and is thus particularly suitable for the output of performance capture platforms. In our system, a suitable virtual representation of the actor is built from real captures that allows seamless combination and simulation with virtual external forces and objects, in which the original captured actor can be reshaped, disassembled or reassembled from user-specified virtual physics. Instead of using the dominant surface-based geometric representation of the capture, which is less suitable for volumetric effects, our pipeline exploits Centroidal Voronoi tessellation decompositions as unified volumetric representation of the real captured actor, which we show can be used seamlessly as a building block for all processing stages, from capture and tracking to virtual physic simulation. The representation makes no human specific assumption and can be used to capture and resimulate the actor with props or other moving scenery elements. We demonstrate the potential of this pipeline for virtual reanimation of a real captured event with various unprecedented volumetric visual effects, such as volumetric distortion, erosion, morphing, gravity pull, or collisions.

Visual speech synthesis from 3D video

Data-driven approaches to 2D facial animation from video have achieved highly realistic results. In this paper we introduce a process for visual speech synthesis from 3D video capture to reproduce the dynamics of 3D face shape and appearance. Animation from real speech is performed by path optimisation over a graph representation of phonetically segmented captured 3D video. A novel similarity m...

High-resolution Animation of Facial Dynamics

This paper presents a framework for performance-based animation and retargeting of high-resolution face models from motion capture. A novel method is introduced for learning a mapping between sparse 3D motion capture markers and dense high-resolution 3D scans of face shape and appearance. A high-resolution facial expression space is learnt from a set of 3D face scans as a person specific morpha...

Growth Simulation of Digestive System Using Function Representation and Skeleton Dynamics

The embryologists found the realistic human organ models and animations of development necessary for their studies. The main idea of this paper is a methodology producing a realistic animation of development by combining the L-system growth model with a physical model. The skeleton of a digestive system is a line skeleton with a tree structure. Therefore, its growth in length can be simulated b...

Modeling Liquids and Solids using Thermal Particles

This paper presents a new method for modeling fluids and solids for the purposes of computer graphics and animation. The model, based on molecular and Newtonian dynamics, describes the changes in geometry and movement of elemental volumes as a consequence of thermal energy and external forces . At "hot" temperatures objects exhibit fluid-like behavior with rapidly varying geometry. At "cold" te...
